Newington Babe Ruth Baseball League Overview:
Newington Babe Ruth Baseball League plays other Newington Teams and Teams from surrounding towns within our District. The number of teams vary from year to year. Babe Ruth works closely with Newington Little League and shares many of its resources (ie. Registration, Web Site, etc.). The number of teams formed will depend on the number of players registered. The league is intended for players with some experience playing Baseball and skills necessary to play on a full size diamond.
The number of teams will depend on the number of registered players and interest level and the number of Volunteers available to Manage or Coach our teams.
Registration for Newington Babe Ruth Baseball is handled by Newington Little League. Please visit www.newingtonll.com
Team Formation and Player Placement
Teams are formed based on the number or registered players and number of Volunteers interested in Managing or Coaching teams. Players are drafted to each of the teams.
Practices typically begin in mid-April. The schedule usually contains 2 or 3 practices and/or games per week, however, this will depend on weather conditions, field availability, and availability of coaching staff.
Late April and May Newington typically plays other Newington teams and other local teams during the early part of the season.
The Newington teams compete against teams from surrounding towns.
Prospective Middle and High School Players
The Middle and High School Season’s typically end during the second or third week of May. This is typically the same timeframe that the Babe Ruth Regular Season begins. Middle School players are allowed to play in other Leagues. High School Players are not allowed to play in other Leagues during their Season. If you are interested in playing on a Babe Ruth team when the High School Season ends please note this on the Registration form so we can distribute these players evenly among teams.
