NEWINGTON LITTLE LEAGUE
Player Skills Assessment
Returning Major Players DO NOT ATTEND ASSESSMENTS
For all baseball players ages 9-12 who were not on a Major Division roster in Spring 2022 (if your child was not drafted to a majors team in the regular season they must attend the assessment) a player skills assessment for baseball will be held on Sunday February 26, 2023 TIME TBD (makeup is Monday, February 27, 2023 TIME TBD) at Swanson Baseball located at 598 Deming Rd., Berlin, CT.
Softball Assessments will be held in late Feb/early March. More information will follow.
All players will be evaluated in hitting, throwing and fielding drills by Major and Intermediate Division coaches. Regardless of the division of play a child intends on playing all players MUST ATTEND the Skills Assessment. The process allows each coach to assess the basic skills of each eligible player to aid in the player selection process. This process is designed to promote equity and competitive balance across each league.
Baseball Players not selected for the Majors division will be assigned to the Intermediate division.
Please read the below information carefully and thoroughly:
Structure of Skills Assessment:
